  7. Installation:
  8.  
  9. Use the Install Tool to install JackFlash.prc and optionally one of
  10. JackSafe.prc or FlashEnable.prc on your PalmOS device.  After your 
  11. next HotSync, these programs will be  available for use.
  12.  
  13. JackFlash.prc is the main JackFlash application and is necessary for all
  14. Flash operations.
  15.  
  16. JackSafe is an optional utility that adds support in the operating system
  17. to restore the contents of Flash after a battery failure or a Hard reset.
  18. Without this utility the contents of Flash will be hidden after a battery
  19. failure, until you are able to run JackFlash again. JackSafe works with 
  20. all devices supported by JackFlash except for Sony OS5 devices and Acer
  21. devices.

  23. FlashEnable can be used instead of JackSafe on Sony OS5 devices and Acer
  24. devices. FlashEnable can be copied to a expansion card, where it can be
  25. used after a hard reset. Running FlashEnable after a hard reset or battery
  26. failure will restore items stored in Flash.

  28. We suggest that you use JackSafe to add the Flash restore support to your Palm.

  32. Existing JackFlash Users:
  33.  
  34. The new version can be installed directly over your existing copy.  There is no
  35. need to disable or delete the existing installation.  If you have already 
  36. installed JackSafe, then you do not need to install it again.

  39. OS3 and OS4 Hack Users:
  40.  
  41. Please note that HackMaster version 0.9 is NOT compatible with JackFlash.
  42. Please use version 0.91 which is available from the support area of our
  43. website at http://www.brayder.com/support/

  45. JackFlash is also compatible with XMaster and EVPlugBase. They are available from
  46. Handango, PalmGear, and other sites that carry Palm software.

  49. FlashPro Detected:

  51. If you encounter a "FlashPro detected" message when you try to use JackFlash,
  52. then you will need to use the RemoveFP utility before you will be able to
  53. use JackFlash.  See the readme.txt in the RemoveFP directory for more details.

  56. Flash Compatiblity:
  57.  
  58. Applications which need to be "Enabled" may not work correctly with JackFlash.
  59. Please avoid placing these programs into Flash.  Exceptions to this rule include
  60. Launchers such as Launch 'em and Handscape.  These applications are safe to 
  61. place in Flash. For more details on Flash compatibility, see the 
  62. "Flash Compatibility" section of the User Guide.
